What is the ECO4 Scheme?
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme created in 2013. Its’ purpose is to improve the energy efficiency of UK homes. The scheme creates legal obligations for large energy suppliers to fund energy efficiency measures for UK households. The scheme’s purpose is to reduce the UK’s carbon footprint, reduce fuel poverty and help vulnerable people.
ECO4 is the newest iteration of the scheme which started in 2022 and is planned to run until 2026. It is believed that there will be a temporary extension to allow the energy suppliers to hit their obligations.
What is the GBIS Scheme?
The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) was created in 2023 and is planned to run until 2025. Similar to the ECO scheme, the GBIS scheme also creates legal obligations for large energy suppliers to fund energy efficiency measures for UK households. The main difference is that there are less available measures, but it is much easier to qualify for.
To qualify for GBIS you must meet the following criteria:
- Your home has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D-G
- Your home is between council tax bands A-D in England or A-E in Scotland and Wales.

Step 2
Your Property Will Be Surveyed At No Cost
We will arrange a free survey with one of our network of qualified and certified assessors. This will consist of a quick assessment based on your home’s current heating and insulation.
Step 3
Suitable Measures Will Be Installed
Once the surveyor has identified what measures are best suited for your property, an install date will be booked in. Installs typically take 1-3 days depending on the measures.
